British Science Week Highlights

Red Banana produced, directed, filmed and edited this highlights promo for the British Science Association, covering a multitude of events over the course of British Science Week 2016.

At different types of venues located all over London, we filmed these special events - from shocking school science experiments with presenter Greg Foot, parties with bat detectives, getting up close with leading Cancer Research UK scientists, learning about the science of hair at L'Oréal HQ, hearing debates about robots taking over, listening to stories from a diverse range of science-based but personal perspectives at the first UK Story Collider, a bookshop chat with philosopher A.C. Grayling, to singing & dancing with kids about DNA, and presenter Dallas Campbell delving through 50+ years of groundbreaking BBC Horizon broadcasts about the history of space travel.

After a whirlwind shoot we scoured through all the amazing hours of footage we had, including interviews with the main players and organisers of the week, as well as with partipants and attendees of the events, including new and excited science inductees of all ages.  Picking out explosive shots (literally!) and soundbites and piecing together with our music selection plus some tight graphics, we delivered a well-rounded and enticing look at what British Science Week can offer to challenge and enlighten public opinion on having fun with science.
