Paradigm Film 2 - Design & fabrication

Red Banana produced, shot and edited this film to show the processes embarked on to build the Paradigm sculpture for the Francis Crick Institute.

Funded by a grant from the Wellcome Trust, the sculpture is an astounding feat of engineering and continues the artist's long standing collaboration with structural engineering practice Structure Workshop.

Taking place in a huge warehouse space just outside London, the creation and assemblage of the imposing pieces was interesting to film. Welding, bolting, lifting, grinding, all around the workshop was a dynamic environment to be a part of, and getting interviews while there with the designer, the engineers and other people involved at varying stages of the endeavour gave us a great behind-the-scenes glimpse of creating monumental art.
